Everyday Fishing

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.”
Henry David Thoreau

Many people mistakingly think that if they have never participated in the art and practice of “fishing” (rod and reel, carp, bass, etc.), that they’ve never been “fishing.”

In a sense – everyday we fish.

We fish for compliments, for conversations, for bargains, Christmas ideas, and many other things. Anyone who works with people in essence, fishes. They fish to sell their product or their idea.

Younger siblings throw fish out to their older siblings – to see if they will nibble. They fish, to gain attention. And in life, we are often like the picture siblings – fishing for something. We fish to fit in. We fish to live. Fishing can give us the freedom to breathe.
